Lime Derivatives of burnt (or calcined) limestone are collectively referred to as lime. Lime is the name given to inorganic materials that contain calcium, in which carbonates, oxides and hydroxides of calcium, silicon, magnesium, aluminum and iron are primary components. Two principal examples of lime include quicklime and hydrated lime.
